Early 2021 to present

Local, regional and national groups of citizens have united and come together in County Durham around the common goal to shut down 'Hassockfield' which the Home Office officially named Derwentside IRC.

The various groups (No To Hassockfield, Abolish Detentnion, Women for Refugee Women, People's Assembly) campaign for the closure of the prison facility as well as their additional aims.

Their opposition to the cruel policy of indefinite detention and deportation without fair hearing of asylum claims unites them.
